Replacing a monitoring system is common: the old system may be end-of-life, unsupported, fragmented across sites, or unable to meet current audit expectations. The risk is a period with reduced control.
Plan the switch
- Inventory. List all assets, sensors, limits, contacts and integrations in the current system.
- Reassess. Use the switch to review limits, delays and escalation instead of copying old settings.
- Keep the history. Agree how historic data will be retained and retrieved for the required period.
- Run in parallel. Install the new system alongside the old one for critical assets, then switch alarms over once validated.
- Validate. Qualify the new system before it becomes the record.
- Cut over in phases. Per department or site, with a clear moment of transfer of responsibility.
- Remove the old system only when no alarms or records depend on it.
Watch-outs
Hidden integrations, local alarm outputs that staff rely on, sensors that cannot be reused, and training for everyone who acknowledges alarms.
How XiltriX Resilience fits
XiltriX Resilience is an Operational Resilience System built on three layers:
- Infrastructure: independent sensors and monitoring stations with battery support, resilient connectivity and local data buffering, so a power or network interruption does not create a gap in the record.
- Intelligence: validated software that turns measurements into alarms, escalation, trends, reports and audit-ready evidence.
- Care: installation, validation, calibration, preventive maintenance and 24/7 technical support for the monitoring system, delivered by one partner that is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified.
Who does what when an alarm fires
XiltriX Intelligence applies the limits, delays and escalation sequence agreed with the customer, and keeps escalating through the customer's contacts until someone acknowledges. The customer's own team assesses the situation and carries out the physical response.
XiltriX does not respond to the customer's alarms. XiltriX Care provides 24/7 technical support when the monitoring system itself has a problem.
