The moment you most need monitoring is often the moment infrastructure fails. A power cut stops freezers and can also stop network switches, Wi-Fi access points and servers. A monitoring system that depends on that same infrastructure goes blind exactly when it matters.
Failure scenarios to plan for
- Building power loss, or a single circuit tripping.
- Network switch, Wi-Fi or firewall outage, planned or unplanned.
- Server or cloud connectivity loss.
- A sensor cable damaged, or a wireless sensor losing signal.
- IT maintenance that changes network settings without warning.
Design principles
- Battery support in the monitoring stations, so measuring and local alarming continue during a power cut.
- Local data buffering, so measurements are stored and uploaded later, with no gap in the record.
- Resilient connectivity, with an alternative path such as mobile data when the local network is down.
- Fault visibility, so a lost signal becomes a technical alarm rather than silence.
- Independent of the building systems where possible, so one failure does not take out control and monitoring at the same time.
Evidence afterwards
After an outage, QA needs to show what happened to the assets and to the monitoring chain. A complete record, including when power and connectivity were lost and restored, turns an uncertain event into a documented one.
How XiltriX Resilience fits
XiltriX Resilience is an Operational Resilience System built on three layers:
- Infrastructure: independent sensors and monitoring stations with battery support, resilient connectivity and local data buffering, so a power or network interruption does not create a gap in the record.
- Intelligence: validated software that turns measurements into alarms, escalation, trends, reports and audit-ready evidence.
- Care: installation, validation, calibration, preventive maintenance and 24/7 technical support for the monitoring system, delivered by one partner that is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified.
Who does what when an alarm fires
XiltriX Intelligence applies the limits, delays and escalation sequence agreed with the customer, and keeps escalating through the customer's contacts until someone acknowledges. The customer's own team assesses the situation and carries out the physical response.
XiltriX does not respond to the customer's alarms. XiltriX Care provides 24/7 technical support when the monitoring system itself has a problem.
