Laboratory temperature monitoring system that never blinks

XiltriX watches every critical fridge, freezer, incubator and cold room independently from the equipment itself. The readings keep flowing through power and network outages, a deviation escalates through your own on-call ladder until somebody acknowledges it, and every measurement is logged for audit. Your team answers the alarm; the XiltriX 24/7 team keeps the monitoring system itself healthy.

In short

What is a laboratory temperature monitoring system?

A laboratory temperature monitoring system measures temperature and related parameters such as CO₂, O₂, humidity and differential pressure in every critical storage and process device, records each reading in an audit-ready log, and escalates a deviation to the people on your own on-call list before sample loss occurs. XiltriX measures each device separately from the device's own controller, so a silent controller failure cannot hide a drifting freezer. Battery-backed monitoring stations keep the readings flowing through power and network outages, and the XiltriX 24/7 team watches the health of the monitoring system itself. Responding to the alarm stays with your team.

Why laboratories replace their systems

Two failures a laboratory temperature monitoring system must prevent

Most incidents in a laboratory are not exotic. They are the same handful of failure modes, and a monitoring system either holds them or it does not.

Sample loss

One drifted freezer can erase years of work. Patient material, cell lines, study samples and reagents are irreplaceable, and a controller that reports its own healthy state says nothing once the compressor has failed.

Alarm fatigue

A system that cries wolf gets muted. When monitoring is unreliable, staff silence alarms, and the one real deviation arrives at three in the morning to an inbox nobody reads. Escalation that stops at a person, with rare and clear alerts, is what keeps the first real alarm answered.

Blind spots

A device that is switched off, disconnected or freshly installed is invisible to the controller it came with. Independent sensors see the device, not its self-report.

Unprovable history

An auditor asks for the record, not the intention. Gaps in the log turn a small excursion into an investigation.

What it measures

What a XiltriX laboratory temperature monitoring system covers

From a single benchtop incubator to a full facility, the same architecture scales without changing the way you work.

  • Refrigerators, freezers and ultra-low freezers down to −80 °C
  • Liquid nitrogen (LN₂) and cryogenic storage
  • CO₂ and O₂ incubators and anaerobic chambers
  • Cold rooms, walk-in rooms and ambient mapping
  • Humidity, differential pressure and door contacts
  • Alarm cables and relays on existing third-party equipment
How it comes together

One system, three layers, one accountable team.

Every customer gets the whole system. What changes is only how much of your facility it covers.

Infrastructure

Our own sensors, system and connectivity. Designed and built by us, so there is no gap between the parts. Yours to buy, or to spread monthly through a lease. Requires only an internet connection and a power outlet. No access to your internal IT systems or business network is required.

  • Own sensors, system and firmware, designed and built by XiltriX, with full control over every critical component.
  • Hardware built on production lines that also serve precision industry, where quality assurance is optimal.
  • Highly accurate sensor measurement.
  • Sensor brand agnostic: any brand of sensor can be connected, no vendor lock-in.
  • No dependency on international providers for security updates on the hardware itself.
  • Monitoring stations and their sensors stay online for several days through a power cut, on integrated battery.
  • Redundant connectivity on every monitoring station: LAN, Wi-Fi, with automatic 4G LTE-M fallback managed by XiltriX.
  • The same 4G LTE-M connectivity extends the system to monitored transport, not only fixed sites.
  • Firmware updates are deployed over the air, instead of manual work on site.
Intelligence

Continuous monitoring, dashboards, alarm management, reporting and a full audit trail. A yearly agreement, with room to add capabilities as your needs grow.

  • Monitoring, dashboards, alarm management, escalation, incident and compliance reporting.
  • Cloud hosting, software upgrades, security updates and data storage.
  • A public REST API, with documentation, for integration with Witness, EMR, lab systems, building management systems and visualisation screens.
  • Alarm messaging and escalation across every configured path (WhatsApp, SMS/RCS, email, phone), cascading until acknowledged.
  • Warning thresholds sit alongside alarm thresholds, so there is time to act before anything goes wrong.
  • Detailed email alerts include a chart of the preceding hours.
  • Data is buffered for several days during a communication outage; nothing is dropped.
  • Automatic failover to another cloud region in the event of a regional outage.
  • Asset-driven aggregation in the interface, not only sensor-driven: you look at the freezer, not at a sensor number.
  • Zoomable, active floor plans and configurable dashboards, for users, administrators and individual departments.
  • Fully mobile enabled, with a touch-optimised interface; no dedicated software installation is required on a PC or laptop to check status or respond to an alarm.
  • Time zone-aware, with filter and search on every page, and data storage that scales with the system.
  • A provable, unalterable record: GMP and 21 CFR Part 11 audit trail, standard reporting.
  • Single Sign-On (SSO) with Active Directory integration and multi-factor authentication (MFA); the customer manages its own credentials.
  • Full encryption in transit and at rest, ISO 27001 certified, penetration tested by external providers.
  • 24/7 monitoring of the system itself for suspicious activity.
  • Unlimited users and entities, with multiple global sites on one system.
  • Operational analytics is included; predictive analytics is a development direction, not yet a current capability.
Care

Implementation, calibration and preventive maintenance, on an hourly basis, plus a battery replacement once every four years. And 24/7 support, included as standard.

  • 24/7 specialist response; if the system itself falters, we are alerted and restore it, often before a client notices.
  • Installation, calibration and project management, in close collaboration with partners and customers.
  • Calibration by the customer or an external partner where preferred; sensors stay installed on site, no shipping required.
  • Preventive maintenance and the annual operational review.
  • XiltriX Academy trains partners and customers worldwide.
  • Installation can be self-service where a customer prefers it, with XiltriX support on hand; full-service installation by XiltriX remains the default.

One agreement. One accountable team. No layer works without the others.

Questions people ask

Short answers to the questions that come up in almost every conversation.

What parameters can XiltriX measure?
Temperature from -200 °C to +250 °C, CO₂, O₂, relative humidity, differential pressure, particle counts, liquid nitrogen level, door status, air flow, water conductivity, VOC, H₂O₂ during fumigation, light intensity, shaking motion and mains power. If a parameter carries risk in your process and can be sensed, it can usually be brought into the same system rather than sitting in a separate box with its own alarm.
Can you connect existing freezers, incubators and cryotanks to a new monitoring system?
In almost all cases, yes. Equipment is monitored independently, with our own sensors, rather than by trusting the device's internal readout. Where a device already provides a suitable output or contact, that can be brought in as well, including digital integration with Lighthouse particle counters.
Does lab monitoring keep working during a power or network failure?
Yes. Every monitoring station has its own backup battery, so measurement and the alarm chain continue during a power or network outage. Every monitoring station has its own backup battery and monitors mains power as a parameter in its own right. The measurement continues and the alarm chain still works. That is deliberate: a power cut is exactly the moment monitoring matters, and it is exactly when a system without battery backup goes quiet.
How does 24/7 alarm escalation work in a laboratory?
An alarm follows your own on-call schedule automatically, from one person to the next and then to another alarm channel, until somebody acknowledges it. Your team responds to the alarm. The person on call, according to the schema agreed with you. Only the active on-call user is contacted first; there is no reason to wake a whole team when one person responds. If that person does not respond within the set time, XiltriX escalates automatically to further people, and after that to a different alarm channel altogether.
What validation documentation does a monitoring system need (DQ, IQ, OQ, PQ)?
URS and functional specification for design qualification, IQ documents recording the system as built, an OQ protocol with printed test evidence, and PQ procedures for recurring proof in normal use. Together they form the validation report you present at an audit.
