Migration to XiltriX Resilience
Replacing your monitoring system means more than installing new hardware. Your measuring points, alarm routes, users and records all need a controlled transition. XiltriX manages preparation, IT alignment, configuration, installation and handover, whether you are moving from X5 or another monitoring system.
Can we migrate our existing monitoring system?
Yes. XiltriX first assesses your current installation, configuration and operational requirements. We agree what can be reused, what needs replacement and how each stage of the transition will be verified. Parallel operation may be appropriate, and any necessary monitoring interruptions are agreed in advance. Historical data and access arrangements are addressed before the existing system is decommissioned.
When is it time to review your monitoring system?
A review is worthwhile when vendor support is changing, your IT environment no longer fits the current system, maintenance is becoming more difficult, or your monitoring requirements have expanded.
You do not need to wait for a formal end-of-life announcement to understand your options. A migration assessment gives your laboratory, IT team and procurement colleagues a shared view of the current situation and the next steps.
One approach, two starting points
Moving from X5 (legacy system)
We inventory your X5 configuration and physical installation. Relevant assets, measuring points, alarm limits, alarm programmes, users, departments and reports are rebuilt as recognisably as possible in XiltriX Resilience. Existing substations are replaced in agreed phases, with each measuring point assessed for reuse or replacement.
Moving from another monitoring system
We establish a baseline of your rooms, assets, sensors, alarm routes, reports and connections. We translate the relevant configuration into XiltriX Resilience, assess component compatibility and agree a phased or controlled parallel transition where appropriate.
In both cases, the plan is based on your actual installation. Reuse and configuration transfer are assessed, not assumed.
Your migration in four steps
- 01
Preparation and IT alignment
We agree the scope, planning, responsibilities and critical moments. Your IT team reviews the internet access, addressing and firewall requirements. Together we confirm the assets, measuring points, alarm limits, recipients, users and reporting requirements.
- 02
System configuration
We prepare monitoring stations, users, departments, permissions, alarm routes and reports before the onsite work wherever possible. Single Sign-On and optional floor plans are aligned with your requirements.
- 03
Phased migration
The installation changes in agreed stages. Each measuring point is recorded as reused, replaced or decommissioned. Where appropriate, your current system remains active alongside XiltriX Resilience for a period. Brief monitoring interruptions may be necessary; these are planned and agreed with you in advance.
- 04
Verification, handover and aftercare
Following changes to the measuring chain, we carry out the necessary calibrations and verify readings, alarm notifications, dashboards and reports. We document the new installation and train key users and administrators. The old system is decommissioned only after verification, handover and acceptance.
Keep what is suitable. Replace what is necessary.
Existing sensors, cabling and connectors may be suitable for reuse. We assess them per measuring point for technical condition, reliability and suitability for calibration and your validation requirements.
New monitoring stations are installed near the asset wherever practical, or in an accessible cabinet or technical room. We do not place them above ceilings. This makes future inspection, maintenance and replacement more accessible.
Reuse can limit unnecessary replacement, but the assessment determines what stays. It is not a promise that every existing component will work with the new system.
Connectivity agreed with your IT team
The preferred connection is a dedicated VLAN or a segmented connection with outbound internet access to the XiltriX Cloud. Monitoring stations can use PoE, or mains power with Wi-Fi. A 4G LTE-M connection is available as a fallback or additional redundant connection, according to the agreed configuration.
What happens to your historical data?
Historical X5 measurement data is not migrated one-to-one into XiltriX Resilience. The data models differ, and a direct conversion cannot reliably preserve the relationship between all historical readings and the new asset and location structure.
Before decommissioning, we secure backups and agree how your historical data remains accessible through the existing or a preserved environment. For other monitoring systems, the preservation and access arrangements are assessed case by case.
What changes in your investment?
XiltriX Resilience brings Infrastructure, Intelligence and Care into one integrated service model. Its annual cost can be higher than an existing X5 contract because the scope is broader, not simply because the software is newer.
The broader scope includes High Availability hosting, backups and snapshots, security updates and penetration testing, remote monitoring-station firmware updates, 4G data traffic, email and WhatsApp notifications, Single Sign-On and mobile access. Applicability and delivery are confirmed in your quotation and SLA.
For a fair comparison, consider the total cost of your current arrangement: software, hosting, continuity provisions, security, connectivity, notifications and the internal time needed to manage separate services. Some of these costs may currently sit outside your monitoring contract.
Suitable sensor and cabling reuse can affect the initial investment. That does not reduce the ongoing monitoring scope by the same proportion: the service still supports your agreed measuring points, system operation and technical continuity.
Migration work and the necessary calibration after measuring-chain changes are specified in the implementation scope. Recurring sensor calibration and corrective onsite interventions are separate items unless expressly included in your agreement. Replacing monitoring stations does not remove the need to calibrate sensors.
Clear responsibilities throughout
XiltriX
Project management, technical alignment, system configuration, installation, migration, agreed calibration and verification, documentation, training and guidance through decommissioning.
Your organisation
A named contact, IT approval and the agreed internet access and power arrangements, access to rooms and assets, confirmation of alarm settings and recipients, participation in training, and acceptance of handover.
Your organisation remains responsible for responding to customer alarms. XiltriX's 24/7 technical support handles issues with the monitoring system itself.
Frequently asked questions about migration
Possibly. We assess suitability per measuring point. Technically sound, reliable components that meet calibration and validation requirements may be reused; unsuitable components are replaced selectively.
Discuss your migration to XiltriX Resilience
Tell us which system you use, approximately how many measuring points you monitor and what is driving the change. We can discuss the starting point, technical requirements and the scope of a migration assessment.
