FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

The questions labs ask us before, during and long after an installation.

21 questions

The system

What XiltriX measures and how the measurement is made.

Temperature from -200 °C to +250 °C, CO₂, O₂, relative humidity, differential pressure, particle counts, liquid nitrogen level, door status, air flow, water conductivity, VOC, H₂O₂ during fumigation, light intensity, shaking motion and mains power.

If a parameter carries risk in your process and can be sensed, it can usually be brought into the same system rather than sitting in a separate box with its own alarm.

The full sensor range

Every sensor on the network is read multiple times per minute. The values are stored and compared against the alarm limits set for that specific device, continuously.

That is what makes it a real-time system rather than a logger you read afterwards: a deviation is acted on while it is happening.

How the network works

Yes. XiltriX designed probes and adapters that fit specific benchtop models, including the Esco Miri and Miri TL, CooperSurgical G185 and G210+, Merck Geri and Origio BT37, so the measurement is taken where the sample actually is.

Sensors and placement

Every monitoring station has its own backup battery and monitors mains power as a parameter in its own right. The measurement continues and the alarm chain still works.

That is deliberate: a power cut is exactly the moment monitoring matters, and it is exactly when a system without battery backup goes quiet.

Alarms and service

What happens when something goes wrong, at any hour.

The person on call, according to the schema agreed with you. Only the active on-call user is contacted first; there is no reason to wake a whole team when one person responds.

If that person does not respond within the set time, XiltriX escalates automatically to further people, and after that to a different alarm channel altogether.

Alarms and escalation

By SMS, by email, through local beacons and sirens in the lab, and through an autonomous telephone dialler for sites that want absolute certainty.

The dialler runs on VOIP, an analogue line or the mobile network, with its own battery and the watchdog relay, so it can still dial out when the rest of the chain is down.

The alarm channels

Yes. XiltriX is a service, not a box: the monitoring is backed by our team, and the escalation schema is designed and tuned with you rather than left as a default setting.

Responsibility for acting on an alarm in your lab stays with your organisation. What we guarantee is that the alarm reaches someone.

The service

By setting limits and delays per device rather than per parameter, and by separating what justifies a night call from what can wait for the morning.

Limits can be adjusted locally and remotely, so a planned maintenance window or a temporary situation does not have to generate noise for a week.

Installation and integration

What it takes to get XiltriX running in your building.

A network connection for the Calypso communication station. The sensor network behind it is XiltriX hardware on its own wired bus or 434 MHz wireless band, so it does not load your network.

The 434 MHz band is used because it penetrates building structures far better than crowded consumer bands, and can be split into sub-bands on large sites.

The network in detail

In almost all cases, yes. Equipment is monitored independently, with our own sensors, rather than by trusting the device's internal readout.

Where a device already provides a suitable output or contact, that can be brought in as well, including digital integration with Lighthouse particle counters.

Yes. Monitoring stations carry relay and open-collector outputs for building management systems and existing alarm infrastructure, and the platform can exchange data with other systems where a project calls for it.

Then wireless stations cover the area, and where wireless will not reach, a directly connected station is used. A mixed installation across all three connection types is normal in older buildings.

Compliance

Validation, calibration, records and audits.

Yes: URS and functional specification for design qualification, IQ documents recording the system as built, an OQ protocol with printed test evidence, and PQ procedures for recurring proof in normal use.

Together they form the validation report you present at an audit.

The validation route

The system and its documentation are used in environments working to FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GxP and GAMP 5, and in laboratories accredited under CAP, Joint Commission International and comparable regimes.

Compliance is always a property of your process as a whole; what we provide is a system and a documentation set designed to support it.

Calibration establishes that a sensor reads correctly against a reference. Validation establishes that the complete system does what it was specified to do, in your setting.

They run on different intervals and neither replaces the other.

Validation explained

Measurements are stored as complete historical records with automatic backup, and any period stays retrievable. Retention is set to your obligation, which in blood banking and tissue establishments can run to decades.

Data management and retention

XiltriX International is certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 27001. Both certificates can be viewed on the company page.

Working with us

How a project starts and what the service includes.

With a survey. A consultant walks the lab with you, lists the equipment that carries risk, and decides per device what has to be measured and where. That produces the sensor set, the alarm schema and the basis for the validation documentation.

Talk to an advisor

The monitoring hardware and sensors, the platform, the alarm chain, and the people behind it: design of the installation, configuration, calibration and validation support, and ongoing service.

It is contracted as one service rather than as equipment plus a maintenance afterthought.

How the service works

No. Installations run from a single IVF laboratory with a handful of incubators to hospital estates and multi-site pharmaceutical operations under one contract.

Customer stories

Yes. The XiltriX Partner Network covers referral, reselling and integration partners, with registration through the partner portal.
